Econo Lodge Employee Sexually Assaulted in Woodbridge

Motel clerk attacked at Econo Lodge at 13317 Gordon Blvd.

An Econo Lodge employee was sexually assaulted in Woodbridge, Va., Tuesday night -- less than a month after another employee was attacked at the same location.

It happened shortly before 10:15 p.m. Tuesday at 13317 Gordon Blvd.

The victim, a 33-year-old Woodbridge woman, was working at the motel's front desk when she received a call from a man who claimed to be a motel guest who'd been locked out of his room.

As she walked upstairs, a masked man approached her from behind and forced her into a vacant room at knifepoint. He then knocked her unconscious and sexually assaulted her. When she began to regain consciousness, the assailant fled.

It does not appear to be a spur-of-the-moment attack, News4's Pat Collins reported. The man had to know the clerk on duty was a woman, and he had to know the phone number and that the room was vacant.

The victim was not able to provide police with a clear description of her attacker.

Police said they don't think this case is related to last month's incident at the Econo Lodge. On Nov. 18, a housekeeper was cleaning a room when a man entered the room and grabbed her. She fought back and the man fled. That suspect in that case was described as a black male, between 28 and 35 years old, 5'11" and 200 pounds, with a mustache and an earring in his left ear.

Authorities also say they don't believe either of the Econo Lodge cases are related to an attempted abduction reported Nov. 17 at the Rodeway Inn in Woodbridge.
