Early Morning Wreck Kills Virginia Teen

Crash leaves one teen dead, another fighting for her life

A single-car crash in Fairfax killed a teenager Monday morning.

The driver, 18-year old Blair Hardy, of Clifton, died after he crashed into a telephone pole.

A passenger in the car, a teenage girl from Centreville, was taken to INOVA Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Hardy lost control of the Volkswagen Jetta he was driving on Braddock Road near Blue Topaz Lane at about 4:30 a.m., police said. The car crossed over the median and crashed into a telephone pole.

Initial investigations by the Fairfax County Police Department indicate that speed was a factor in the crash, police said.

This is the 20th fatal crash in Fairfax County this year. About this same time last fall there were 37 crashes that resulted in 42 deaths.
