Bus Stop Sex Assault Probed in Franconia

Fairfax County Police are investigating after receiving a report of a sexual assault at a bus stop Wednesday morning.

Just before 4:30 a.m., a woman flagged down a female jogger and asked for help. The 23-year old woman said someone approached her from behind and then grabbed and assaulted her while she was waiting at a bus stop at La Vista Drive and Franconia Road.

Police said the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital.

The suspect was described as a heavy-set man between 25 and 40 years old.  H wore a white T-shirt and tan cargo pants.

Police responded to the scene by closing off one lane of Franconia Road near La Vista Drive.
