Dupont Circle Escalator Repairs Progress Slowly

Two of three escalators at one Dupont Circle Metro Station entrance were working today, but several days of repairs remain.

Riders could ride the escalator up and down -- instead of walking the 120 steps down -- at the Q Street entrance. But it was still ride up, walk down at the 19th Street entrance.

Parts to make repairs to the escalators are no longer available for purchase, News4's Chris Gordon reported, which mean Metro has to make them. That delays the repairs.

Metro expects to have the escalators at the 19th Street entrance fixed Wednesday at the latest.

The out-of-service escalator at the Q Street entrance is scheduled to return to service July 29. It is getting repairs for a handrail problem that was an issue before outages this week.
