You can be sure that Metro will one day take you to Dulles. You can’t be sure right now, though, exactly where at Dulles it’ll take you.
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority might move the future location of the Dulles station. A new spot could save up to $640 million. Those savings could go a long way, considering Phase 2 of the Metro extension project may cost $3.83 billion. Phase 1, which is currently under construction, has a $2.7 billion price tag.
Where is all that money going? Much of it is earmarked for guideway, tunnel and track. In fact, it could cost more than a billion dollars during Phase 2. After all, that 2-mile tunnel at Dulles will cost a pretty penny...
