Dude! Judge OKs Teen's Lawsuit Against Cop

Video became YouTube sensation

BALTIMORE -- A skateboarder who became part of a YouTube sensation when his confrontation with a Baltimore police officer was caught on video will be able to go forward with his lawsuit against the officer.

A Baltimore judge ruled Eric Bush can continue with his case, even though he was late notifying the city of his intent to sue. The judge denied a motion to dismiss the case, saying Bush had shown good cause for missing the deadline.

Bush was 14 last year when he was stopped by Officer Salvatore Rivieri while skateboarding at the Inner Harbor. The video recorded by a friend shows the officer putting Bush in a headlock, pushing him to the ground and scolding Bush for calling him "dude."

The police department said Rivieri is still relieved from street duty.
