Driving Getting Cheaper Day by Day

Gas prices continue to fall

More good news for drivers Monday as gas prices continue to plunge.

Gas prices have fallen more than 3 cents in the past two weeks, according the AAA Mid Atlantic.

Nationally, a gallon of unleaded regular on average costs about $2.66.

In the District, drivers are paying about $2.89 for that same gallon. In Maryland, a gallon of regular costs about $2.65. The average price for a gallon of gas in Virginia is about $2.53

Over the weekend, gas prices fell about 14 cents between Friday and Monday. Experts said the falling prices are due to more supply and less demand.

Some of the lowest gas prices in the Washington area include a price of $2.33 at a Freestate gas station on Route 1 in Maryland; $2.70 at the Lowest Price gas station on New York and Fairview avenues in the District; and $2.29 at BJ's gas station on Noblewood Plaza and Golansky Boulevard in Virginia.
