One person has died and two teenagers are hurt after a car crashed Thursday night in Takoma Park, Maryland.
Yoftahea Afework Melese, 20, crashed his 2000 Toyota Corolla just before 7:30 p.m. in the 7800 block of Carroll Avenue, according to the Takoma Park Police Department. Melese lost control, jumped a curb and hit a stone wall, officials said.
Melese was pronounced dead at the scene. Two 16-year-olds had to be extricated from the car, a Montgomery County fire department spokesman said. Both teens suffered injuries that are not life-threatening.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
