Driver From Tour Bus Crash Didn't Want to Work: Wife

The wife of a bus driver who fell asleep at the wheel said her husband told his bosses he was tired and didn't want to make the trip, which ended when the bus flipped and left four dead.

Kin Yiu Cheung's wife, Qun Lin, told the Richmond Times-Dispatch her husband climbed behind the wheel of the Sky Express Inc. bus because he feared for his job.

In a statement to the newspaper, company attorneys denied “all wrongdoing” in connection with the May 31 accident.

Cheung was driving the discount-fare bus when he dozed off on Interstate 95 about 30 miles north of Richmond, investigators said. Four of the 60 passengers died and dozens were injured when the bus hit an embankment and overturned.

Cheung is being held without bond.
