Driver Admits to Striking Victim with Car After Argument

A driver allegedly involved in a hit-and-run admitted to police that he intentionally hit the victim with his car, killing him.

Montgomery County police said Ryan Anthony Salandy, 22, of Germantown, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of William Dean McDaniel, 21, of Clarksburg. Police said Salandy admitted he intentionally struck McDaniel with his car Friday afternoon.

Investigators said witnesses told them Salandy and McDaniel were involved in an altercation on Sweetspire Drive shortly after noon on Friday. They said Salandy initially drove away from the argument but circled back to hit McDaniel with his car.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found McDaniel in the road with fatal injuries. About 30 minutes later, officers were able to locate Salandy at his home in Germantown.

Salandy is currently being held without bond. A bond review is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
