Dispute Over Littering Ends in Shooting in Northeast DC

A confrontation over littering in Northeast Washington ended in a shooting when a man was injured after asking three people to pick up their trash.

D.C. police said they responded to a shooting in the 800 block of Crittenden Street NE in the Michigan Park neighborhood around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man was taken to a hospital and then reported that he was in a verbal dispute with two men and one woman who were littering from a car.

But the situation escalated when one of the passengers in the car exited the vehicle, pulled out a gun and fired two shots at the victim, police said.

Police are looking for the suspects, who were driving a white 2018 Nissan Pathfinder. Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099.
