After Resigning Seat as Failure, Frederick Denounces Darwin

Disgraced Va. GOP chair now annoying colleagues with stories

For one measly Virginia GOP chair and state delegate, Jeffrey Frederick is making an inordinate amount of news this week.

On Tuesday, of course, Frederick singlehandedly ruined his party's chance to take over the state Senate by posting a couple of gloating sentences on his dumb Twitter account. It immediately tipped Democrats off to the planned coup, and they stopped it, and now Frederick is an embarrassment to his state and country.

This controversy -- along with the fact that under his leadership, the state party lost everything to the Democrats in November -- led him to e-mail constituents this morning with the news that he will not run for re-election.

But instead of stepping aside quietly and allowing his party to forget about his numerous failures, he had to ask, in this same consistuent e-mail, for everyone to help him convince his stubborn wife to run for his seat. Hey man, leave everyone else out of this. If there's one place people don't want to be, it's between Jeff Frederick and his wife during an argument.

Which brings us to the following video of Frederick speaking in the House of Delegates yesterday. He thought that his colleagues, who don't like him, would enjoy a little speech to commemorate Abraham Lincoln and denounce Charles Darwin on their shared birthday.

His thesis? Darwin's evolution theory "was used by atheists to explain away the belief in God," while Abraham Lincoln used his power to put "In God We Trust" on our currency. Good story, guy!  Maybe you should put it on your Twitter.

Jim Newell, too, was born on February 12, 1809, and now writes for Wonkette and IvyGate.
