Two Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s deputies were wounded after exchanging gunfire with a 61-year-old man.

Authorities said deputies were attempting to serve an order on Michael Antosh on Gordon Road in Spotsylvania when he barricaded himself in his house. He then threatened deputies with a large caliber firearm.

The Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) were called in and attempted to communicate with Antosh for several hours. They said Antosh was highly agitated and make numerous threats toward law enforcement and others.

About 2.5 hours into the standoff, Antosh started firing at deputies and the authorities returned fire. Two deputies were wounded and Antosh was also hit with gunfire.

The deputies are in stable condition at Mary Washington Hospital. Antosh underwent surgery and is listed in critical condition.

Felony charges against Antosh may be pending as the case progresses.
