“Shut it Down!” Demonstrators Take to D.C. Streets

Several hundred protesters took to D.C. streets for the third night in a row, following the grand jury decisions this week not to indict white police officers in the deaths of black men in Missouri and New York.

After halting traffic and performing a "die-in" in Chinatown at 7th and H streets NW around 6 p.m. hundreds of demonstrators made their way north to 14th and U streets NW two hours later.

They quickly moved to Adams Morgan after shutting down U Street, headed back downtown to K Street NW and looped back to Chinatown, where another prompt "die-in" was held.

Protesters chanted "Shut it down!" and "I can't breathe, I can't breathe!"

D.C. police and Metro are alerting commuters of possible traffic delays in the area.

A possible collision with a pedestrian was reported at 7th and H streets NW just after 11 p.m. prompting a police response, but police said the disturbance was unfounded.

For three nights in a row of demonstrating around downtown D.C., crowds have remained mostly peaceful.
