Expect delays on the Orange and Silver lines and a service shutdown on the Blue Line later this month.
The disruption is set to last 16 days, from August 11 to 26.
"All Orange, Blue and Silver line customers are encouraged to use alternate transportation and to only use Metro if you have no other option," Metro said in a statement.
Orange and Silver line trains will run every 20 minutes all day, which could lead to extensive delays and crowding, Metro said in a press release Wednesday.
Blue Line trains will run between Franconia-Springfield and Arlington Cemetery, cutting off service in D.C. and Maryland. There will be no rail or bus service between Rosslyn and Arlington Cemetery.
Silver Line trains will operate between Wiehle-Reston East and Largo Town Center.
Orange Line trains will operate between Vienna and New Carrollton.

Blue Line trains will operate every 16 minutes during rush hour, every 12 minutes after noon and every 20 minutes after 10 p.m. WMATA said that additional Yellow Line trains will provide service during rush hour between Franconia-Springfield and Greenbelt.
On the weekends of August 11-12 and August 25-26, free shuttles will replace train service between Foggy Bottom and Federal Triangle. Metro Center will only serve Red Line trains while Farragut West and McPherson Square stations are closed.
During Aug. 18-19, Orange and Silver line trains will single track between McPherson Square and Smithsonian stations at all times. Blue Line trains will start service at Franconia-Springfield and will stop at Arlington Cemetery.
This announcement comes in the midst of WMATA’s Red Line shutdown between Fort Totten and NoMa-Gallaudet, which started on July 21 and is expected to end on September 3, Labor Day.
