Residual Delays on Metro After Fire at Gallery Place

Residual delays remain on Metro after three lines single-tracked Friday morning due to a fire at Gallery Place, Metro said.

Early Friday, trains were bypassing Gallery Place, which was briefly evacuated due to "a burning fastener" that connects the tracks to the concrete, a Metro spokesman said. Regular service has resumed.

Green and Yellow line trains single-tracked between Mount Vernon Square and L'Enfant Plaza but returned to both tracks shortly before 8:15 a.m. Residual delays remained in both directions, Metro said.

During the incident, Blue Line trains single-tracked in Northern Virginia between Pentagon City and Arlington Cemetery due to the delays on the other lines. Service has returned to both tracks, but riders should continue to expect delays in both directions.

The spokesman said riders should keep eyes on the @metrorailinfo Twitter account for schedule updates.
