At least one person is injured after a truck driver lost control on a Capital Beltway overpass, hit a barrier and sent debris raining down onto cars on I-270, officials say.
The tractor-trailer driver hit the jersey wall Monday afternoon where the Outer Loop of the Beltway passes over I-270, Montgomery County officials said. The impact sent parts of the truck and chunks of concrete onto northbound lanes of I-270.
A number of cars were hit by the debris, and at least one person was hurt, county officials said. Information was not immediately available on the extent of the victim's injuries.
The Outer Loop was closed and reopened after a short time.
An investigation on the cause of the crash is underway.
