Young Mother Killed in Prince George's County

Police say argument led to fatal stabbing of woman

A young mother was stabbed and killed on her street while returning home from work late Thursday night.

Tiara Caple, 21, had taken the bus from the PetSmart where she worked. She was walking along Leslie Avenue from the bus stop to her home in Temple Hills, Md., when she was stabbed. Caple's ex-boyfriend -- and the father of her one-year-old son -- also suffered stab wounds. He called 911 and ran to Caple's home to tell her family, NBC Washington's Pat Collins reported.

Caple was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Caple's ex-boyfriend told police that he and Caple were attacked by an unknown man. He is hospitalized in critical condition.

In February, Caple complained about abuse and obtained a stay away order against her ex-boyfriend, Collins reported. In March, she asked for that order to be dismissed.
