A restaurant owner has picked up a celebrity endorsement in his bid for District of Columbia mayor.
Actor and activist Danny Glover will join Andy Shallal on Saturday for a fundraiser and a public forum.
Shallal describes Glover as a friend. The star of the ``Lethal Weapon'' series and other movies is a longtime advocate for liberal causes.
Shallal is the owner of the Busboys & Poets restaurant chain. He says he'll share his vision for addressing economic inequality in the district at the forum, which will be held at a politically influential church in southeast Washington.
Shallal is one of several candidates in the city's April 1 Democratic primary, including Mayor Vincent Gray, who's seeking a second term. Gray's official campaign launch is also scheduled for Saturday.
