“Dangerous” Man Escaped From Maryland Hospital, Turns Himself In

A man police characterized as dangerous escaped from Washington Adventist Hospital about 9:20 p.m. Wednesday has been located.

27-year-old Clayton Mollenhoff turned himself into a Rockville facility today.

Previously, police suggested anyone who saw him should use extreme caution. "He has some issues with paranoia, a history of violence,” said Cathy Plevy of Takoma Park police. “He's been suicidal. He's a user of drugs and alcohol. And he's been very aggressive in the past towards police officers."

Mollenhoff’s criminal record includes charges of assault, burglaries, and drugs and disorderly conduct.

"He has escaped in the past several times,” Plevy said. “He apparently has a lot of extensive training in martial arts. So keeping him restrained has been a bit of a challenge. He's out there. He needs help. He needs to go back to the Washington Adventist Hospital."
