Dad to Undergo Competency Hearing

Castillo charged in children's drowning deaths

BALTIMORE -- A Rockville man charged in the drowning deaths of his three young children is due in court Thursday for a decision on his competency.

Mark Castillo has said he wants to represent himself and plead guilty.

At a hearing earlier this month, a forensic psychiatrist told the judge that Castillo has been diagnosed with severe depression and is taking Prozac, but that would not affect his ability to stand trial.

Police say Castillo confessed to killing his children in a Baltimore hotel room in March after a drawn-out custody dispute with his ex-wife.
