D.C. to Close Homeless Tent City Near Kennedy Center

D.C. officials confirm they intend to close a homeless tent encampment near the Kennedy Center.

They'll first try to persuade the occupants of almost two dozen tents to go to shelters, officials said.

The district promises to store their belongings.

Deputy Mayor for Human Services Brenda Donald told News4 only the holdouts may face forced removal.

D.C. leaders noted the tents violate the city's laws and can't be allowed to stay.
