Capital Pride Parade on the March

Two hundred thousand will take to the streets Saturday evening to celebrate gay pride.

The annual Capital Pride Parade will be making its way through the Northwest.

"In my lifetime, seeing so much of gay liberation is a huge indication of progress in terms of human rights," Council member Jim Graham, who is openly gay, told the A.P.  Other council members will join Graham in Saturday's march, as well as D.C. mayor Vincent Gray.

What you need to know about the schedule and road closures:

The parade starts at 5:30 p.m., and will conclude around 8:30 p.m.

The route:

• East on P St from 23rd St NW
• Clockwise around Dupont Circle
• North on New Hampshire Ave
• East on R St
• South on 17th St
• East on P St
• South on 14th

The street closures:

• 25th St NW between M & N
• 24th St NW between M & N
• 23rd St NW between M & P
• N St NW between 24th & 25th
• O St NW between 22nd & 23rd
