Va. Teen Girl Charged With Homicide

A 17-year-old female was jailed in Stafford County for the killing of a 62-year-old woman.

Police said the cause of death was a gun shot wound to the upper body.

According to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office, the victim's son and husband returned from work to their home on 700 Perry Drive in Grafton Village around 6 p.m.  Police said that when they entered the house, they discovered the victim, Brenda Dye, bleeding from a gunshot wound.  Dye was unresponsive and not breathing.

After the men called 911, an emergency medical team along with police were dispatched to the home.  Following an investigation, detectives arrested a 17-year-old girl for the murder.

Authorities could not release any more information about the suspect because of her age.

"Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family of Brenda Dye," said Sheriff Charles Jett.  "We are truly saddened by this senseless loss of life."
