DC Reneging on Fire Truck, Ambulance Donations?

Watch out for lightning bolts

WASHINGTON -- A fire truck and an ambulance on their way to the Dominican Republic from D.C. have been rerouted back home, sources told the Washington Examiner.

Last week, the revelation that the surplus items worth a total of $340,000 were going to a beach town rather than an auction upset many.

The vehicles were given to anti-youth violence group Peaceoholics, which in turn was donating them to the Dominican town Sosua, but not so fast. Councilwoman Mary Cheh wants to know how and why the donation happened.

NewsChannel 8's "NewsTalk" host Bruce DePuyt also reported the recall, citing Peaceoholics co-founder Ron Moten, the Examiner reported.
