D.C. Potholes Get Their Fill

“Potholepalloza” a success so far

Have you noticed that your commute is a little smoother these days?

Crews in the District have filled 3,481 potholes since the beginning of March.  That’s an average of 290 potholes a day.

It’s all part of the city’s month long “Potholepalooza” campaign.  During the campaign, the District Department of Transportation is working to repair identified potholes within 48 hours instead of its normal 72-hour response time.

As many as 10 crews and three "pothole killer" trucks are being used to fix the holes.

DDOT Director Gabe Klein said that with the public's help, the department is making great progress.

Since the year began, 11,384 potholes have been filled.  That’s much more than the 2,912 potholes filled during the first 78 days of 2009.

To report a pothole, residents and commuters can contact DDOT in a variety of ways: 1.) call the Mayor’s Call Center at 311; 2.) use the On-line Service Request Center at www.dc.gov; 3.) text message or Tweet to www.twitter.com/DDOTDC; or 4.) e-mail to Potholepalooza@dc.gov.
