DC Police Officer Makes Stuffed Animals in Memory of Fallen Officer

A D.C. police officer handmade stuffed animals to give to the children of an officer who was killed in a head-on collision in September.

Barry Eastman, 31, of Ellicott City died after crashing into a tractor-trailer on Sept. 25, according to WTOP. He was traveling northbound on Route 32 in Clarksville, Maryland, when his Kia Forte crossed the center line, hitting the truck at about 8 a.m.

Police said Eastman was driving home alone after finishing his shift early. Eastman was a Third District police officer and a four-year veteran of the department.

Officer Rebecca Werner made the animals from Eastman's old uniforms. They will go to his two children, just in time for Christmas. Werner has been with the department for two years.

Police say Eastman loved helping others and participated in the community coat drive for those in need.
