Police: Men Planted ATM Skimmer in Anacostia, Stole Cash

The men appear to be in their 20s or 30s. One wore oversized glasses

D.C. police are searching for two men who they say used an ATM skimmer and fake ATM cards to make off with cash. 

The men, who appear to be in their 20s or 30s, are accused of taking money from ATMs over the past month on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE, Georgia Avenue NW and a location near the Benning Road Metro station, police said Monday morning.

Police say the men planted a skimmer on an ATM on the 1800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE and later returned to withdraw money using fraudulent ATM cards.

They're also accused of withdrawing money using fake ATM cards on the 100 block of 45th Street NE and on the 4800 block of Georgia Avenue NW. 

The offenses occurred between Feb. 2 and March 3, police said.

Anyone who recognizes the men or who has information on the crimes is asked to call police at 202-727-9099 or text the police department’s tip line at 50411.

A reward of as much as $1,000 is offered.
