D.C. Police: Fatal Shooting Was in Self-Defense

D.C. police won't pursue charges against a man arrested in a fatal shooting this week because it appears he may have acted out of self-defense.

Police arrested Kenneth Brown Wednesday in the shooting of Thomas Terrell Jamison in the 1200 block of Raum Street NE.

Police found the 43-year-old Brown suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital and charged with second-degree murder while armed.

But the department on Thursday said it now appears that Brown may have acted in self-defense and that he won't face any charges.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office review of the case continues, but after consulting with D.C. police, they determined evidence to go forward with charges at this time is insufficient.
