DC Police Cruiser Hits 18-Year-Old

A northeast D.C. teen was hit by a police cruiser and the officer then left the scene, according to the family of the alleged victim.

Dominic Turner's family said the 18-year-old suffered broken ribs, internal bleeding and a back injury when he was hit Saturday night, the Washington Post reported.

Franklin Wade said he saw men running from police and heard a thud. Then he heard Turner groaning.

Wade said an officer picked Turner up by the shoulders and said something to him. He said the officer then dropped Turner to the ground and left.

It was unclear why police may have been chasing Turner.

Police confirmed Sunday that a 5th District cruiser struck a man Saturday night. A spokesman said the department would investigate.
