D.C. Officer Found Not Guilty in Attempted Murder of Wife

A D.C. police officer accused of trying to kill his wife during a fight in their Maryland home has been found not guilty.

Samson Lawrence was found not guilty on all charges Thursday, News4's Prince George's County Bureau Chief Tracee Wilkins reported.

Authorities said that Lawrence's wife, Betty Lawrence, suffered injuries around Thanksgiving 2013 after an argument over hanging a projection TV got out of control at their Accokeek, Maryland home.

Samson was accused of spraying his wife's face with Lysol, pushing her down steps, hitting her with a pendant lamp, choking her and holding knives to her neck, but none of his DNA was found on any of the alleged weapons left inside the home.

Lawrence was charged with attempted murder and assault.

This was his second trial. The jury in the first case was unable to decide on a verdict.
