Maryland Man Chokes Mother, Stabs Stepfather: Police

Police said a 25-year old man rampaged through his mother's home in Brooklyn Park early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to a home on the 400 block of Old Riverside road after they received a report of a woman screaming around 1:40 a.m.

At the scene, residents there told authorities they had been victims of an assault, at the hands of Jesse Edwards Chapman.

According to police, Chapman arrived at the address intoxicated under a controlled dangerous substance.  His mother told authorities that Chapman attacked, throwing her to the floor and choking her.

Chapman's stepfather tried to intervene to stop the assault.  But Chapman got hold of a knife and started slashing and stabbing his stepfather.  He sustained lacerations around his wrist, shoulder, and chest.

A third victim, a neighbor, entered the house and attempted to break up the fighting.  Chapman physically assaulted that woman as well.

Chapman was placed under arrest at the scene.  He was charged with attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, false imprisonment, and a 4th degree sex offense.

None of the victims sustained life-threatening injuries.
