D.C. Man Sentenced in Online Date Stabbing

A D.C. man who stabbed another man he met through a dating chat line has been sentenced to 16 years in prison.

Thirty-seven-year-old Lamar Brown had pleaded guilty to assault with intent to kill while armed. He was sentenced last week in D.C. Superior Court.

According to government evidence, Brown and the victim met through a dating chat line weeks before the stabbing on July 31, 2012.

Prosecutors say Brown had spent the night at the victim's home. Authorities say the victim awoke to Brown stabbing him repeatedly.

Prosecutors say the victim was able to escape his apartment and ran to a neighbor for help. Brown fled and was arrested three weeks later.
