A head-on accident in Fauquier County killed two and sent two others to the hospital.

The accident happened around 8:20 a.m. on Route 215 Vint Hill Road near Route 652.

Police said Sharon Sue Rose, 54, of Manassas Park, was driving her 2003 Toyota pickup truck on the road there.  Eric Henry Matthews, 45, was coming in the opposite direction, driving a Toyota Avalon sedan.  Also in Matthews' car was his wife, Lori Anne, 46, and a child, 8-year-old Reign Lewis Spencer.

According to authorities, Rose drove her pickup across the road's dividing lines, into the oncoming sedan.

The 8-year-old boy and the wife were both killed in the crash.  Police said everyone in the crash wore seatbelts.

Virginia State Police spokesperson Sgt. F.L. Tyler said that alcohol and speed did not appear to be factors in the crash.

The investigation continues.  Check back with NBC Washington for more updates as they become available.
