The District's largest homeless shelter is capacity, as the coldest weather of the season approaches.
D.C. General Family Shelter now has 232 families living it, while another 329 families are being housed at local hotels or other facilities. Even more individuals and smaller families are being sheltered at "overflow" locations, like recreation centers overnight, throughout the city.
Two local hotels are helping provide shelter, and they're near capacity.
The District is negotiating with a third hotel to expand shelter.
