DC Education Center Opens Without Problems Despite Parents' Concerns

WASHINGTON -- An elementary school in northeast Washington opened without problems Monday despite some parents' concerns that school renovations were still being completed this weekend.

The John Burroughs Education Center is in the first phase of a three-phase renovation.

Despite some parent fears that the school would not be ready, classes were held without any reported problems.

Parents who spoke to News4 seemed pleased with the progress.

More than $1 billion dollars has been spent on school repairs in D.C. in the past two years.
