Dispose of Hazardous Waste Saturday

It's hazardous waste drop off day in the District of Columbia.

The D.C. Department of Public Works is offering free hazardous waste drop off Saturday at the Ft. Totten Transfer Station in the city's northeast.

Residents can drop off items like pesticides, batteries and motor oil as well as televisions, computers and cell phones. Residents can also bring paper they want shredded, and free compost is being given out for residents' use in gardens.

A hazardous waste drop off day takes place every first Saturday of the month at the Ft. Totten Transfer Station. Drop off hours are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
