DC Circulator Bus Rides Will Be Free Indefinitely

DC Circulator bus rides will be free indefinitely, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced in Monday's State of the District Address.

The permanent free rides are an extension of Bowser's Fair Shot initiative, which started as free circulator rides for the entire month of February. The initative was then extended through March.

“Over these past few weeks, workers at hotels, restaurants and shops have stopped me and told me how much they like the free circulator," Bowser said in her address. "They shared how being able to get to and from work for free each day has made a real difference."

The bus has six routes around the city. Previously, the cost of a DC Circulator bus ride was $1. The fare for regular Metrobus routes is $2.

"We’re offering a hand up by making the DC Circulator free from now on," Bowser said in her address.
