    Drowning Investigation in Edgewater

Authorities in Anne Arundel County are trying to figure out what led to a man drowning in an icy neighborhood pond. (Published Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011)

A woman out walking her dog near her home made a chilling discovery on Sunday.

An Edgewater resident discovered a hole in the ice of a pond near her house where a man had fallen in.  Investigators have identified the man as Justin Paul Raddie, 28, of Gambrills, Maryland.

Around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, a woman was walking along a footpath that wound behind her house and passed several small ponds around near Riverton Place and Stepneys Lane..  Over the course of her walk, she noticed a pair of shoes by the shoreline of a pond.  In the center of the pond the woman saw a hole in the ice.

The Edgewater woman immediately went to a nearby police station and reported her discovery.

Anne Arundel rescue teams were dispatched to the scene.  Divers there found the body of a man in the water.  The man, Raddie, was transported to Baltimore for autopsy.

The investigation continues.  Stay with NBC4 for more information as the story develops.
