Arrest Warrant for Suspect in Toddler Shooting

Detectives in Pr. George's County have issued a warrant for an 18-year-old they say is responsible for shooting a toddler in the face.

Authorities issued a warrant to arrest Deven Angel Matos, charging him with attempted murder, assault, and reckless endangerment.

The charges stem from a shooting incident in Glenarden on August 21.  Officers said two men were engaged in a gunfight in front of an apartment building on Brightseat Road around 9 p.m.  Police
said residents and children were outside when the two suspects began exchanging bullets.

One of the shots hit a boy, weeks away from his second birthday.  Officers said that the child was being held in his mother's arms when he was struck.  The boy remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Investigators identified Matos as one of the shooters that night.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts are asked to call 1-866-411-TIPS.
