The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is taking steps to make the skies quieter around Reagan National and Dulles International airports
MWAA has hired the ITT Corporation to measure noise around the airports.
The corporation will use real-time flight data. That information will then be used to determine ways to control or reduce noise pollution.
“The data will be integrated into both Dulles and Reagan airports’ Noise Operations Monitoring Systems,” said John Kefaliotis, a vice president with ITT.
ITT said it was selected through a competitive bidding process conducted by MWAA.
