A District agency that provided nutritional supplements to aging seniors received some much needed help today.
Iona Senior Services gave out Boost and Ensure to District senior citizens.
Their funding was cut by the Department of Aging in June.
The company Sodexo heard about the situation and donated 35 cases of the nutritional drink Boost this morning.
“Many of the seniors who participate in the program could not survive on their own without the supplement,” said Sally White, executive director of Iona Senior Services.
A lot of people will be helped with today’s donation, but Iona Senior Services still needs help from the community, according to White.
