A Takoma Park home suffered extensive damage in an early morning fire Friday.
When firefighters arrived at the scene in the 6500 block of Kansas Lane around 6 a.m., heavy smoke could be seen coming from the roof of the home.
The owner of the home is out of town, according to Pete Piringer, a spokesman for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.
Piringer said the fire is under control. Piringer later tweeted a picture of the charred home.
