Couple Charged With Stealing From School's PTO in Fairfax County

The president of a Fairfax County elementary school's Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is facing embezzlement charges following allegations she and her husband stole from the organization.

Fairfax County Police say they were contacted last month by an employee at Fort Belvoir Elementary School who noticed that checks were bouncing.

Following an investigation, 39-year-old Amy King and 40-year-old Jermaine King, both of Lorton, were taken into custody. Police say Amy King was charged with embezzlement; her husband was charged with grand larceny.

Investigators say the stolen money came from the PTO's general fund, which is raised through membership fees and school fundraisers.

The investigation is ongoing.
