Correctional Officer Sentenced in Death of Prince George's Inmate

A former correctional officer who pleaded guilty to an obstruction charge after the death of a detention center inmate was sentenced to two years in prison.

Anthony McIntosh, 49, was sentenced Monday in federal court in Greenbelt. He pleaded guilty in January to obstruction of justice in the 2008 death of Ronnie White, an inmate at the Prince George's County Detention Center.

McIntosh found the 19-year-old White hanging from a sheet in his cell, prosecutors said. White had been charged with running over and killing a county police officer.

McIntosh admitted in his plea that he had claimed he was not the first person to find White unresponsive in his cell. He failed to tell anyone and falsified reports about White's death, prosecutors said.
