Construction Worker Injured Under 14th Street Bridge

A portion of the 14th Street Bridge was shut down Tuesday while crews rescued an injured construction worker trapped underneath the bridge span.

The worker was apparently injured while working under the bridge on a catwalk.

Crews had to lower the worker into a D.C. fireboat instead of pulling the worker up to the road.

All outbound lanes of the 14th Street Bridge were closed at 11 a.m. for the rescue attempt.  They were re-opened by 11:40 a.m.
