A medical marijuana shop is set to open later this year near downtown Silver Spring.
Green Thumb Industries, the distributor, will open the dispensary later this year, Bethesda magazine reported.
Maryland law now allows up to two stand-alone dispensaries in each of the state’s 47 legislative districts. The Silver Spring store expects to serve up to 150 patients per day.
The company also has a notable partner: former Baltimore Ravens player Eugene Monroe. Monroe was the first active NFL player to publicly request the league allow players to use medical marijuana.
