Coach Sues Ocean City Shops

Coach, which makes luxury handbags, has filed suit against 13 shops on the Ocean City, Md., boardwalk for allegedly selling counterfeit handbags, wallets and accessories.

The suits were filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Baltimore, The Baltimore Sun reported.

The lawsuits allege that a Coach investigator went to the stores in June and bought the items for $20 to $75. Authentic Coach handbags sell for around $300.

Coach is seeking $2 million in damages for each counterfeit violation at each store or a court order for the store owners to pay Coach all the profits earned from the sale of the items.
