Close Call For Two Alexandria Babies

Toyota Prius jumped curb at intersection and hit stroller

Two infants in Alexandria narrowly avoided suffering serious injuries Sunday when a car jumped the curb and bumped into their stroller as it was about to cross the street at an intersection.

Police say that the young woman driving a Toyota Prius became distracted by the vehicle's GPS and lost control of her car at the intersection of Mill Road and Mandeville Lane, near the entrance to the Hoffman Movie Theater.

The Prius' impact tipped the double stroller over and two infants fell out. The two suffered very minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure.

Police have not yet decided whether the driver will be charged with a crime, but the investigation is ongoing.
