PD: Suspect in Georgetown Trail Assault in Custody

Police believe they have found a man responsible for sexually assaulting a woman on a popular D.C. trail in April.

The assault was reported around 8 p.m. in the area of Foxhall Road and Canal Road NW, nestled between wealthy -- and usually safe -- neighborhoods near the Glover-Archbold Trail.

The victim was walking by herself when a man physically attacked and sexually assaulted her.

Christopher Wallace was arrested last weekend on an unrelated outstanding warrant in Maryland.

Police are calling him the prime suspect in the April sex assault because he has the same tattoo as the one the victim described -- an "N" with stars down the center on the back of his left hand.

According to United States Park Police, Wallace is awaiting extradition to D.C.
